Increasingly, a growing number of people rely on vehicles for transportation in today's
fast-paced world and this augmented dependency calls for the pressing need for
improved road safety measures. Despite advancements in automotive technology, brake
failures persist as a significant threat on the roads, leading to numerous accidents and
fatalities worldwide. As a way to address this critical concern, this project aimed at the
design and installation of an automatic brake failure indicator for vehicles which
emerges as a pivotal innovation to revolutionize the automotive safety system. A brake
failure indicator is a technologically advanced safety device that automatically detects
potential braking system malfunctions or deficiencies in the system, providing drivers
with audible warning signals. The project entails the integration of mechanical,
electrical, and software engineering principles to develop a reliable system. The
automatic brake failure indicator assumes significance by providing an additional layer
of protection against brake failures that could lead to accidents. The study phase to
realize this project was put into five parts, the first part consisted of the literature review
of the already existing system. Then the mechanical phase including the various parts
needed for the system was defined and general analysis strategies were formulated.
Using adequate software, the Proteus was employed for the design of the circuit and
Arduino IDE for the system programming. The second part entails a detailed overview
of the braking system components and the last part of the project was the step-by-step
analysis of the system and then the assembly of the components and tests were done, and
then the discussion of the results was obtained from the test run to ascertain the success
of the project. |
