Abstract
The study was conducted to access the relationship between training and development and job satisfaction
on employee performance at Koforidua technical university. The study adopted the descriptive research
design which incorporated quantitative method approach. The target population for the study was 423
which consisted of senior staff and senior members in the institution. Yamane method of calculating the
sample size was used to determine the sample size of 206 staff. In all 206 questionnaires were sent out of
which 191 were retrieved representing a response rate of 92.7%. Statistical Package for Social Sciences
(SPSS) version 23.0 and Microsoft excel version 2010 were used for analysis of data. Frequencies and
percentages were used to present and discuss the biographic data of study subjects. Mean and standard
deviation were then used to illustrate opinions of respondents, Pearson’s correlation was also used to test
the relationship between the training and development and employee performance. The study revealed
that respondents accepted the importance of training and development and scored high rating for coaching,
job rotation and workshops. The study further revealed that there was significant positive relation between
Training and Development and Employee performance in the institution. Based on the findings, the study
recommended that Koforidua Technical University should continue to provide training programmes for
its staff to improve their skills as well as their capabilities. |
