Impact of Catch Can Height on Evaporation and Drift Losses Using Dynamic Fluidic Sprinkler

dc.description.abstract Sprinkler irrigation is one of the four basic methods of irrigation. In case of surface irrigation, losses occur due to seepage and percolation but in sprinkler irrigation, loss occurs only by evaporation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the evaporation and drift losses at different catch cans height. The field investigation was carried out at the Research Farm of Fishery and Aquaculture Technology. The statistical analysis of evaporation and drift losses was carried out with the software packages (Minitab 17). The results indicated that evaporation losses of the different catch can heights varied from (4.78-7.87), (6.4-8.2), (3.32-7.74), and (7.45-7.99) for 0.5,1,1.5 and 2m, respectively. The average values of the evaporation loss were (6.4), (7.5), (5.4) and (7.78) m for 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2m, respectively. For catch cans with heights of 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2 meters, the average cost of evaporation losses was USD.38.70, USD.45.15, USD.33.45, and USD.46.65, with the lowest cost of USD.33.45 occurring at the 1.5-meter catch can height. The evaporation loss connections with discharge, temperature, humidity, and wind speed were found to be non-linear for catch can heights of 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2 meters, respectively, with r values of 0.864, 0.805, 0.896, and 0.861, respectively. en_US
