dc.description.abstract This study aimed to assess kitchen safety practices among staff at Osino Senior High School, focusing on their awareness, adherence, and training regarding kitchen safety protocols. The research employed a quantitative methodology, using structured questionnaires to collect data. A total of 60 questionnaires were distributed to the kitchen staff, out of which 50 were retrieved, yielding a response rate of 83.3%. Data were analysed using frequency and percentage tables with the aid of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS, version 20.0). The findings revealed that staff received comprehensive training in emergency procedures, proper food handling, hygiene practices, and equipment safety. Staff demonstrated a solid understanding of kitchen safety, adhering to key protocols such as maintaining cooking temperatures, following food storage guidelines, and consistently implementing emergency procedures. Despite the positive outcomes, some areas required improvement, particularly in equipment handling and food storage practices. The study recommended increasing the frequency of refresher training sessions, implementing monitoring and auditing systems for compliance, upgrading storage and labelling practices, and conducting regular emergency response drills. These measures are intended to ensure continuous improvement and readiness, fostering a culture of safety and compliance within the school kitchen environment. The research concludes that ongoing training and educational initiatives are crucial for maintaining strict kitchen safety standards and promoting a proactive safety culture. en_US
