Abstract:
This study examines the effect of stress on job satisfaction among academic teaching staff at
Koforidua Technical University, with a focus on the mediating role of organizational support.
Utilizing a quantitative research method, the study employs descriptive analysis based on data
collected through structured questionnaires. The research aims to achieve three specific objectives:
first, to assess the levels of stress experienced by the teaching staff; second, to examine the impact
of stress on their performance; and third, to explore how organizational support mediates the
relationship between stress and job performance. The findings reveal that while teaching staff
experience moderate levels of stress, the presence of strong organizational support significantly
mitigates its negative impact, thereby enhancing job satisfaction and overall performance. The
study highlights the critical importance of organizational support in managing stress and
maintaining high levels of job satisfaction among university staff. These results have important
implications for university management, suggesting that strengthening support mechanisms can
effectively reduce stress-related performance issues and promote a more productive academic
environment.
