Abstract:
Worldwide, both private and public businesses engage in procuring goods, services, or both
from external sources in various ways. In simple terms, procurement involves businesses
acquiring items from suppliers. It is a crucial aspect of business operations, encompassing trade
or commerce between two or more enterprises. The prospects of Ghana’s E-Procurement
System (GHANEPS), are promising, with potential advancements in procurement efficiency,
transparency, and accountability. This study aims to evaluate the prospects, benefits, and
challenges with the implementation of GHANEPS at Koforidua Technical University.
A quantitative method was employed, with 25 respondents, a survey with a close-end
questionnaire as the research instrument and descriptive data analysis. The findings revealed
that GHANEPS is widely recognized for its potential to significantly reduce procurement
process times, leading to more responsive public sector operations. Also, GHANEPS has
significantly increased transparency in procurement activities, promoting accountability and
reducing the potential for corruption. However, GHANEPS has increased their workload or
added complexity to the procurement process
