dc.description.abstract Employee motivation is a critical driver of organizational success, particularly in the banking sector, where performance is closely tied to the quality of service and operational efficiency. In today's competitive business environment, understanding the factors that influence employee motivation and performance is essential for achieving sustainable growth and productivity. This research explores the dynamics of employee motivation and performance at South Akim Rural Bank. Using a purposive sampling technique, 30 employees were selected to examine socio-demographic characteristics, intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors, determinants of performance, and the impact of motivation on organizational outcomes. The study reveals that the workforce is predominantly young and female, with diverse educational backgrounds and varying years of service. Key findings indicate that intrinsic factors, such as recognition and a sense of purpose, along with extrinsic factors like competitive compensation, significantly influence employee motivation. However, many respondents expressed dissatisfaction with career growth opportunities and recognition programs, highlighting areas for improvement. Additionally, gaps in training, communication, and leadership support were identified as negatively impacting employee performance. The results emphasize the need for robust motivational strategies, effective management practices, and clear job expectations to enhance performance and achieve better organizational outcomes. These insights are crucial for the banking sector, underscoring the importance of aligning motivational efforts with employee needs to foster a productive work environment. en_US
